Happiness in Money

|
In this TedTalk, Michael Norton a social science researcher speaks on how money can indeed buy happiness. In the beginning he speaks how money can ruin peoples social life and make them unhappy. He then makes the point that maybe you are spending your money on the wrong things. They conducted an experiment with a handful of undergrads in Canada. They told half of them to go and spend the money in the envelope on themselves and the other half was to go spend it on someone else. At the end of the day they called each person back and asked them how they felt. It turns out that those who spent the money on others felt happier and those who were told to spend it on themselves didn't have a change in emotion. They also found out that it didn't matter the amount of money that was spent but who it was spent on.
