What Goes on in The Mind of a Killer?
|
In the Truman Capote's book In Cold Blood our two serial killers are Dick Hickock and Perry Smith. In a class assignment we had to option to write about whether or not serial killers are made from nature or nurture. In this weeks TedTalks, nueroscientist Jim Fallon discuses what it is like to explore the mind of a killer. I found this interesting because my essay topic was on whether or not killers are made from nature or nurture. Mr. Fallon states that genes, biological-epigentic brain damage, environment and age are all factors in the making of a killer. In the research he did he found that in each killer they all had "damage to the orbital cortex which is right above the eyes". He also goes on along saying that the main genetic trait would be violent streaks which is sex linked and comes from your mother, which is why most psychopathic killers are men. So to add my input to the debate of whether or not killers are made from nature or nurture; there is scientific research showing that some killers are in fact made from nature and unlike nurture we cannot control this.
